Meltdown

Meltdown

Meltdown is a piece by me, Jenna Bussey. This is an emotional piece, it depicts the head of girl that is slowly melting. The background has a variety of colored drip oozing down the inky blackness. The thing that is first catches the viewers attention is the hair, the way it drips down the face and its striking red color can almost be mistaken for blood. The piece mostly has circular shapes to it though there are a few triangles within some parts of the hair. Many colors wer used but the most used are tan, red and black.
The expression combined with the melting features gives a feeling of horrified despair, the colorful drips in the background add to the oddness of the piece. Some even drip onto the headband face, following the natural curves of it to add surrealism.
Overall the piece is meant to show how some changes in our life can be frightening and strange, that sometimes the things that makes us who we are can slip through our fingers and melt away into something......new.

The Return

The Return

The Return was painted by me, Jenna Bussey. This piece is a pattern portrait, in it I combined an
Aztec mask with Chinese style of face painting, using analogous colors yellow, yellow-green, and green. I mixed in the finest bit of black with the mask to give it an aged and ancient look.
The dark background serves to make the face pop out more and draw more attention to it and the grey smoke is to add an air of mystery to it.
The work evokes a feeling of suspense and dread as well as mystery, the eyes of the mask almost seem to glow in hidden animosity.
